We provide horseback riding lessons, basic horsemanship, groundwork, and help with problem areas. We travel to you which is the best part of our program working with you and your horse in your own relaxed environment!
IN THE BEGINNING
Originally from Australia, Elise moved to the States with her family and at just two years old went to The Chincoteague Pony Centre for a pony ride on Penny, the spark started there. Elise started taking lessons and summer camps at Queen Hive Farm. Throughout her childhood she would help her next door neighbor Nancy Kupelian mucking stalls and feeding just to be near the horses. Nancy took Elise to her first show igniting her passion for horses even more. In her early teens she began riding weekly at Pony Pines Farm and gradually started riding more and more when she began being homeschooled in 2014. Then came a lease on a horse named Jamison for about a year until she was ready for her own horse.
SPEAKING STAR AKA (SMOKEY) TAKES ON EVENTING
Smokey her first horse was a 12 yr old OTTB who helped her continue on into lower-level eventing all under the tutelage of Johnson Equestrian a great rider and teacher from the Virginia area. Smokey not only taught Elise how to ride but he taught her resilience, Smokey was a tough teacher, but the most rewarding horse Elise had ever ridden. Elise and Smokey also competed at the 4-H State Championship coming home with Reserve Champion in Dressage as well as qualifying for the AEC's got Beginner Novice in 2017. During this time Elise had the honor of working with some of the ponies belonging to the Chincoteague Pony Drill team who would one day join the Drill team.
LEAVING THE SHORE
In 2018 Elise became a working student for MK Equestrian and had the honor of riding Puttin' on the Ritz AKA Benny while working in Aiken SC. Elise had the opportunity to work alongside Molly Kinnamon Advanced Event Rider and was able to watch her compete, train, and work with the horses daily. While there Elise had the opportunity to ride multiple horses in a day as well as learn how to properly care for horses as the athletes they are.
COMING HOME
Elise then came home to begin a new lease on a lovely mare named Jane, Kerra Johnson from Johnson Equestrian taught and trained with Elise to work towards competing Jane at training level later in 2018. Elise was also involved in 4-H as she competed with Kendy Allen's Chincoteague Drill Team pony, Misty's Thunderstorm at the Virginia 4-H Championship, where they took home Dressage Grand Champion. Elise then began as the Pony Pines Farm barn manager in charge of feeding, turnout, vet visits, farrier care, and blanketing for all boarders. While working at Pony Pines Elise was able to train with Ivy a lovely mare, Monte, and a complete restart on Trudy a spirited palomino mare. Pony Pines Farm was a very rewarding place to work, the owners Donnie and Lynn Matthews were always encouraging Elise to keep pushing to her goals. Elise was also able to start teaching a young teen on Smokey for her 4-H project, who took him back to States to compete later that year. Later in 2019 Elise was able to bring her horses home to Tall Poppy Farm with her mum Erika Bale where she welcomed a new arrival Billy a 4 yr old thoroughbred. Billy has been worked with over the last few years by Elise working on the basics as well as liberty work.
FOREVER HOME
Elise and The Bale family took care of Smokey, her first horse until he passed peacefully in the pasture surrounded by his mates Earl and Billy, along with loving hands of Peter and Erika Bale as well as Daryl Insley from Layfield Veterinary Clinic.
NEW BEGINNINGS
Elise moved to the Gettysburg area and had her son in 2020, and life has been in full force for the last four years getting married, running a business and being a mum. Elise is ready to continue her passion to help horses and their people reach their goals!
